As you might have guessed from the subject of this post, we have removed all pop-up advertisements from free hosting member pages. I have personally received thousands of requests throughout the last 5-6 years on replacing the pop-ups with banner ads.

What makes this even better is that we have decided to remove the pop-ups without adding any kind of new ads/banner-ads. Instead we will supplement the current "hosted by t35" footer link with one or two other text links.

We are now the only major stable and long-running free web host to remove practically all page advertising. In addition, we are still the only major free web host to offer unlimited space and bandwidth (something we have been doing for almost a decade!).

Keep checking the forum in the next few months for more exciting upgrades including a new control panel, and potential mysql databases!

Being with t35 for more than 3 years for me, this is the biggest improvement that T35 has ever made so far(along with server upgrades like two years ago). Im so excited to be gasping in next few months seeing even more improvements.
Very well done T35!! *kiss kiss kiss*

After all, I'm pretty sure you will lose paid hosting customers. LOL

Thanks! We feel there are still some extra features that are worth the paid hosting upgrade. More specifically, proffesional/commercial sites will upgrade to remove the "hosted by t35" footer.

I changed the text link ads to have a hover effect on mouse over. Let me know if it seems too bothersome, but we have to get the click thru rate on those links up a little higher! Smiley

Both hits and sign ups seem to be down.. I'm trying to figure out if it's just the holiday season or you guys really prefer pop-ups over the text link? The pop-ups make us almost 5 times more money, so I'd obviously rather have those.. especially if it will get membership back up. Any ideas/comments/suggestions/feedback would be greatly appreciated!

i can just about guarantee the people prefer the text link over pop-ups. Perhaps you could try a combination of text links and pop-ups? For example, you could still have pop-ups, but maybe half as many or something like that.

I feel like there are people who prefer text links and those who prefer pop-ups. I'm afraid that if we have a little of both, we lose both groups. hmm..

Hmmm
pop-ups are definately one of the biggest turn-offs I can think of !
it is much preferrable to have text banners at the bottom
How about - instead of Free Web Hosting by, just Hosting by ?
and maybe have all the lines along the bottom instead of 3 at the bottom and one above ?

uncutpc ... we will be switching it to just 1 line Feb 1st (along with a shorter hosted by t35 ad).

bubba11895 ... wrong board, but no, you can't install your own control panel's on a free hosting account.

Unfortunately, we might need to still keep the 'free web hosting' link to boost search engine rankings. We just might chop off the 'by t35 hosting' or do something else to make it shorter.

Why not add these in the META tags? If you do this as well, the search engines will be able to find you even easier without it showing on the page. You can also keep the link up, as well, if you want. I have no problem with it. Smiley

It's easier to sell them as actual links since the advertisers pay for the SEO benefit AND the traffic. Not to mention that google is now penalizing for the meta tag tricks you mentioned.

They must have adware on their computer that they don't know about. We no longer run any form of popup/popunder advertising on our servers, as we now use footer links network.
