Will I continue to be able to do redirection and URL masking?
« on: January 23, 2007, 02:20:08 PM »
So, I am currently paying for two domains from http://www.mydomain.net/ that I redirect to my free web hosting domain.  With URL masking this works fine.

If I follow the directions at http://www.t35.com/linkdomain.shtml ... will that move the management of my two domains from mydomain.net to T35?  Will I continue to be able to do redirection and URL masking?

I need this explained in greater detail, please.

Why not just keep doing url masking to the free hosting url?

Alex,

I am trying to understand the "deal" with the free domain hosting.  Does this mean that I actually transfer the management of the domain from MyDomain to T35?  And, that after that transfer, you are providing the DNS services of domain for free?

I am judging my questions based upon the line in the very short announcement paragraph that reads "You need to first create a free hosting account and then transfer the domain".

I am trying to understand what it means when you say "transfer the domain".

If you could point me to a FAQ or something with a bit more depth... I can read and maybe ask more intelligent questions.

Regards,

You change the name servers to ns1.t35.net and ns2.t35.net and your domain becomes associated with your free hosting account. I'm not sure what you mean by "dns service". Since you point the name servers to us, yes, we provide the dns service --- but you can't change of the dns information.. all it does is link your domain to your free hosting account. So when you go to your domain it will load the files from your free hosting account. It is not exactly a redirection.. it loads files from the same folder, but doesn't directly redirect or mask to your free hosting account.

Curious about Domain's myself...

I have a domain I paid for on Hostway which I used Domain Forwarding to get to my Page. Now recently I setup PHP Nuke, and for some reason cookies wont work with the page because on here it has a domain set to madchatter.net which is another domain hosted elsewhere. (When I installed the Nuke from Fantastico it showed only my madchatter.net domain) How do I change it so my domain iwebradio.com is listed here?

IE: http://madchatter.net shows as the domain here , I need http://iwebradio.com

How do i change that? I tried the Addon Domain control in CPanel but keep getting an error. Any ideas?

Once the name servers on the domain point to our servers (ns1.t35.net and ns2.t35.net) then you go into cpanel and add it as an addon domain. What's the error you get in cpanel?

Hi Alex

The domain forwarding it does just goes to the folder the pages are in. I dont see an option to forward to a DNS server. Can I put the ns1 or ns2 server in in place of the folder in the Domain Forwarding?

Without forwarding the dns to us the domain is not really "hosted by us" and thus can't be integrated into cpanel. You might want to contact the company you purchased the domain from and ask them to set the name servers.

We don't sell domains.. but if you already have a domain you purchased from a domain name registrar you can transfer it to us (or away from us) whenever you want.
