FAQs ::: PLEASE READ :::
« on: April 07, 2005, 09:10:18 PM »
Here is an FAQ I threw together for the most common questions:
I need a MySql Database / forum
T35 does not provide a free database for the free service, you can however get one off a remote web site, some good ones are:
- http://www.freesql.org/ (forum databases are not allowed)
- http://www.hotsql.com/  (Not currently working)
-If you need a forum but don't absolutely need a database, there is one in the helpful resources section. It is called Navarone/Navboard.

My php script doesn't work ???
- Make sure it doesn't use register_globals as it is disabled on the free host for security.
You can add $_GET['var']; and $_POST['var']; for the same effect.

Mail doesn't work ???
- Mail is disabled because anti spam laws are actually in existence, and with many free accounts the amount of spam that could be generated is huge, and we just don't like spam do we?

Cgi help?
-Cgi is infact really insecure / slower compared to php, so there is no cgi on the free host.

Help! There's a virus in the ad's!
- Actually, there are no viruses in the ads, older versions of some anti-virus software will detect the ad script as a virus, rest assured, and there are no viruses. The pages are static, (not activeX) and cannot be viruses.

My file wont upload
-Does the file comply with the 1024KB file size limit?

SMTP won't connect!
-This feature has been disabled for the time being due to a problem with people using our hosting for phishing scams. This of course is not avoidable any other way. Expect it to be enabled sometime soon but also know that if the problem continues it will be disabled and not re-enabled.

I cannot view my site!
-Did you sign up with capital letters or 'strange symbols'? (Such as: '!@#$%^&*()+{}[] |/?<>:;') The servers are on a RedHat linux platform and do not support caps.
-Are you visiting from china? China has blocked T35 and there is nothing we can do convince the government to unblock us.
-Are you visiting from brazil? Some Brazilian ISP's have blocked T35, call them and tell them to unblock us.

Mods/admins have anything to add that I can't think of right now? Just edit the post and add it in.
Edit:Spelling. --thanks schnablesite for pointing out some stuff!
Edit: SMTP Bret Craven
Edit: New stuff
Edit: MySQL, File Size limit - Kistler
Edit: brazil problem added

I can not see my site, only your redirected advertising.

I did NOT sign up with capital letters or 'strange symbols'? (Such as: '!@#$%^&*()+{}[] |/?<>:;') or spaces.
All of my directories and files meet this standard.  My directories and files do use _ and --.

I tried both IE 6.0.2900 and Netscape 7.1, to no avail.
I entered:  www.aphoenix.t35.com/index.html  which came up both times specifying the http.

The index.html is in the root directory and looks fine when I look at it through the HTP server.

Waaaz Up?

Is there anyway to see your site when you do type in www.username.t35.com
I know it works if you don't, but if not, why is it like that?

The adds doesn't work here. It says:

This offer is not availible in your area, you will now be directed to another page.

If the pop-up doesn't work, why can't you just delete them?

And one time, the popup did worked and it HAD a virus in it, my site completely crashed!

I signed up with one capital letter. Does this mean I need to start over with all lower-case letters?   I can't view my page at all.

here's what it say next to the sign-up form:
"The username needs to be in lower case. If you use CAPITAL LETTERS in your username, the account will not work."

looks like you'll have to re-sign up.

Question, what type of server do you use?

I want to install mysql by myself but I'm not sure which version to get.

(as in linux or whatever, the OS used is what I need to find out, I can't just play guessing games.)

We use linux servers but you are not allowed to install your own server software like mysql. You need your own dedicated server to be able to do that.

The file size limit is now 1mb. What error do you get when uploading? What's the file name?

hi
i created my account gagansuri.t35.com a few days ago. i want to know that how can I create and access tables and use them in my php code. Is there a screen or UI that t35 provides for doing database operations.
thanks,
gagan
