fopen() disabled?

Hi everyone,
I used a php file for counter implementation and it has fopen() in it. Now my page wont load, saying fopen() is disabled for security reasons.
Is it temporary or what can i do to circumvent this in the php file?

Sorry, due to abuse, we're no longer allowing fopen or fwrite on free hosting.
