How to place a picture in my web page?
« on: August 31, 2010, 05:21:19 PM »
Hi Members

I already know how to hard code and I use the FCK editor for fast work.

Please tell me how to place a picture in my web page. I already have the picture uploaded to my .t35 account directory. I forget how to code the picture into my web site when its already been uploaded.

What is the code please to place a photo in my web page when the picture is already in my t35 directory?

Thank you

I usually keep my images in their own directory which I call /resources/ so if I wanted to put an image 'checkok.png' on my website it would be:

<img src="resources/checkok.png" alt="checkok.png" />

The newer HTML standards require that you have the slash before your ending chevron, but the older HTML versions don't.  Unfortunately there are still a lot of coding examples out there using <br> instead of <br /> and the like.

Yes, it's easier to keep your images in the same directory as your webpage.  Unless, that is, you're making a large project.  Then it's easier to make a directory for images, one for scripts, and I like to have one for backups as well.

Also remember that if the image is going to be used as a link you'll probably want to add border="0" in your img code, so maybe:

<a href="http://www.myniftywebsite.com"><img src="resource/checkok.png" border="0" alt="" /></a>

Hope that helps

Before leaving this response, but a quick note that regardless of the type of site you have construction, commercial or personal use, you must respect copyright and intellectual property of the images on other sites. Just because Motorola logo looks good, does not mean you have the legal right to place on your website, copied, or otherwise. Some sites do not have this limitation, particularly at the sites of state, but the vast majority of websites out there that are presumed to be protected or legally off-limits to the images. If in doubt, e-mail to the webmaster and ask for permission. I hope this helps clarify your confusion!
