Topic: New Ads are Annoying  (Read 3612 times)

I've only had a free T35 account for about a month now, but just recently the new pop-up box ads have gotten really annoying. When I first joined, there was just a pop-up window, which wasn't too bad considering that it wouldn't come up every time you went to page, just once in a while. Then for a while there were no ads at all, which was great but unrealistic lol, but now there are these pop-up boxes, asking if I want to download anti-spyware software. Not only are these more annoying, like the fact that clicking "Okay" does just as much as "Cancel", but these pop-up everytime I visit a page on my webspace. I guess maybe I should consider upgrading to premium webspace, but this is just a horrible way to treat free customers.

Well its not as bad as when they had the one that everyone thought was a virus but wasnt, and if you didnt click ok your website would not come up. but hay, like darkness said it only comes up every 48 hours and if thats it its better then haveing a stupid add come up every time is it not?

If t35 gets better offers on adds then maby the admin will take it away.

With everyone blocking pop-ups this is about the only thing that works.

Not to mention that you are getting a paid software for free. If you want the free software press Okay, if you don't press cancel.

If you press cancel you go to the site and you don't see that again for 2 days.

If you press okay, it lets you download the software for free (which costs people $9.99).

I don't see what you are complaining about, you get a chance to get free software, if you don't want it you press cancel and move on.

No matter what ads we use, someone will not be happy. I just remember the uproar about using pop-ups 3 years ago...

With everyone blocking pop-ups, to an extent that we are down several thousand dollars for free hosting for this month alone, this is the best solution we have.

Its not permenent, but is going to stay for the next 6 days. Its not working out too well for the anti-spyware company, so i am guessing 6 days is all it will be.

One thing is sure, people don't like these type of warnings, my visitcounter is falling down with 1000!  And also it is not a good thing for T35, if people place links from others sites to mine with the comment: 'Virus, Trojan, Spyware ...'

Like more popups ... I know you need the money, but if people are staying away from the sites ...  cool

Yes they are annoying but hey as long as they don't apear everytime I visit the Home Page then there not that bad.

But if they ever make it so everytime you go to your home page you see it then that would be something I would hate and would move to a new hoster but there not doing that so ok.

I would like the code they are using for it cause I want to have one enabled like that on my forums could someone post it here?

stofke... from my experience visitors like these more then pop-ups, since this only appears on entrance and never again. In fact, i have had emails from customers thanking me for the free software.

As for sites linking to you as "virus.." I don't see where you are getting that? Even if a spyder like google indexes your site they will never index anything inside tags... and thats where the code is.

Well i find T35 is one of the best i've seen,,and i searched a long time before finding a host that was OK with me...  As for the popups...mabey try a framed approach, or Iframe.,.in any case, my site is built with IFRAMES and the pop-up happens only in the initial opening of my Index.html

The new ads are not so bad. Remember what were the ads some months ago? If your browser blocks pop-ups, the advertisers would display a large box with an "x" in the right that covered a large area of the screen. Not to mention that often the ads were in Macromedia Flash format and prevented the "x" from appearing, which made it very hard to close the ad! So, I think that this type of ads is good. And I hope T35 continues to give such a good free service.

I don't complain about the ads and everyone should not be. Shocked  You are using thier services without even having to pay any cent. Shocked  It's just fair for them to place those ads besides the ads are not that so annoying they only appear once every 48 hours. Accept it, nowadays commercials and ads are now a part of internet and even in the future. You can even find some good deals and oppotunities with these ads. Wink  Still, if you really get annoyed about the ads then you can go for a paid hosting or you can get yourself some popup blockers or stop using the internet. Shocked
