The control panel for free hosting is fully functional once again though.

It appears that the problem still exists. I know I am using the correct username and password (I even double-checked my activation email and did a "forgot password" to be sure), but I'm getting an error message that says I'm unable to log in with my username.

Could it be because I registered it last night? Yes, I activated it, and was able to upload files until t35.net completely went down last night.

Details on the error page:

Quote
Unable to login to FTP server ftp.t35.com with username htmlclassroom.

Are you sure your username and password are correct? Please contact your ISP helpdesk or system administrator for help.

Technical information for developers:

    * function ftp_openconnection (/home2/t35net/public_html/login/includes/browse.inc.php on line 51)
    * function browse (/home2/t35net/public_html/login/index.php on line 163)

Thanks

Thanks for the quick reply, TheDarkness. I tried with CoreFTP and XP's built in FTP, but neither worked. Sad

Edit: Thanks, Timekeeper. My firewall has never been a problem with other sites, but I'll give your suggestions a shot.

Don't feel bad, Timekeeper. I've been known to sit on the reply screen for several minutes before actually replying, lol.

Update: Deleting cookies & temp files and turning off firewall didn't work. Sad I'm not too sure about downloading a program that's only going to work for 30 days, but thanks for the suggestion.

See, I've been looking for a good free webhost that I could refer all my message board members to who want to put up personal websites, and I was psyched about this service because it was easy to register, easy to use, allows PHP, and allows multiple files to be uploaded at once. These people are beginners, and they might get discouraged if they have to learn FTP on top of everything else.

I'm hoping this problem is only temporary, due to the recent internal upgrades. Do you think this is the case? I only discovered this service last night and have no history with this service to base any decisions on, aside from how well it worked for a very short while last night.

Or maybe they weren't finished with the upgrades before I registered last night, and the system is somehow getting confused? If that's the case, I'll be more than happy to have the account deleted and to re-register.

Thanks again, both of you.

Lisa, your account is working fine for me. As per

"Unable to login to FTP server ftp.t35.com with username htmlclassroom.

Are you sure your username and password are correct? Please contact your ISP helpdesk or system administrator for help.

"

You need to login with htmlclassroom.t35.com as stated in the welcome email, several other pages on the site, and by TheDarkness a few hours ago.

Also, make sure you are connecting to ftp.t35.com on port 21.

Have you both tried shutting down your computer for 10 seconds and doing a cold boot?

Also if you have dialup, you may want to try and dial into a different city. And if you have cable/dsl you should try disabling your connection, shutting down for 10 seconds, start up and reenable your connection.

One more thing, try checking for spyware and viruses that may interfer with your programs, or even kill them.

I'm just saying because on occasion your ISP tends to mess programs up and also your computer decides to not run it until you finally reboot. I should know, I've had this problem with various programs before and what I suggested did just the thing.  cool

I just tried FlashFXP for the heck of it, and that didn't work either. Sad

Thanks for the reply, Amelen. Yes, I can access my site, but I am unable to login. I have tried going to ftp://htmlclassroom.t35.com as suggested, as well as all the other suggestions, but it acts as though my username or password is incorrect, although I know for a fact they are correct.

Timekeeper, I can't see it being my computer, because I am able to FTP into all of my other sites on different hosts. It's just this service I'm having problems with.

TheDarkness, the first thing I did after booting my computer up this evening was to try and log in, since I couldn't even access the host site last night. Also, I regularly scan for spyware and viruses, so my system is clean. How can dialing into a certain city cause the problem? I can always give that a shot, since I have a few options there. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll be gone for a few minutes while I dialup to a different number...

Lesa, when I clicked your link it showed the FTP server as "htmlclassroom.t35.com". Our ftp server is ftp.t35.com port 21. Could that be the problem are you experiencing?
