There is some program on my computer named "Backweb Agent" I can see it running when I press Ctrl+Alt+Del and it starts up when I get on the web.

I want to remove it because everytime it starts up it nearly (and sometimes does) freezes my computer. I have tried the following to remove it with no luck:

1. My Computer -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Then it didn't find backweb agent in there.

2. Start -> Run -> msconfig -> Startup -> And yet again it did not find it there either.

So now I am stuck trying to figure out how to get rid of the program.

Any ideas on what to do?

I checked what it is used for and I don't need it so I want to get rid of it. I think it's made by F-Secure.

Thanks.

The best program I have ever found to remove unwanted files from your computer is called

Easy Clean

It's free and removes all types of programs and files.

Enjoy

Maybe its installed in windows/system32 folder. Spyware or adware usually installed in this folder.

Taken from another site:

The BackWeb agent is the engine that controls the news and information updates for your subscribed channels (Active Desktop).
If you dont use it, or dont know how this program got onto your computer you can delete it as follows:
Go to the Start menu and select Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. Select Backweb and click "Remove".
If backwebagent is not shown in the list of add/remove programs you can try this to prevent it from startup:
Go to Start --> Run --> type "msconfig" in the box"
Select the tab "Start-up" and uncheck the mark at the program Backweb.
Restart your computer.
Although the program is still on the computer when you do this, at least it doesnt start when you boot your pc.

I found it on a google search in less than 30 seconds

What you may want to try since this is not adware or spyware and probably will not be picked up by any type of those apps you may want to try and remove any files that it installs onto your computer and then remove it from your registry if it made any entries in there. This is pretty much the same thing the uninstall app will do but you will be doing it yourself.
