Where to get free pics!

I was wondering where people get their pics for their websites from.  Does anyone get them from sources like photobucket and etc?  Are those copyrighted?  I am looking for ways to get free templates and also images.  As the sites that I am currently doing are only going to be like non-profit, entertainment sites.  I was thinking something like a Mad magazine website (making fun of stuff).

I use istock and big stock they are not free, but extremely cheap $1-2 dollars for a good quality web size image.

If you are worried about royalties ye old search engines can help! Run a query about royalty free images and voila! You should have more options than you can shake a stick at. While you are at it, look up some sites that will plug you into some unique content as some royalty free images can be bland as all heck!
