I was curious, whether any of you who own a website or a forum, design everything for their site? Or do you hire someone to do it? For me, I choose to design everything as it's a great part of who I am, plus it's something I enjoy. What about you? Do you find it hard if you do? Or is it more than fun, and you just give it your best shot?

Personally, I dislike designing EVERYTHING by myself. Though I wish I could; I'm not all that great.

Nobody except the freelances ^^ design whole websites.

I take a simple template and create my own buttons or backgrounds or menus and such.

Yes, I do all the graphic design for my site. I use Photoshop on a regular basis so it comes natural for me to work my own graphics. Maybe someone else could do them better, but I enjoy what I do and it's free besides my time, so it works for me.

I design for myself.I took some Paint shop classes that are free and I think I'm getting rather good, why ask someone when I can do it myself, that and nothing gets done right when others do it and some miscommunication goes on

Likewise, but at least I try. I don't feel like the site is mine if all I've done is copy-pasta'd it from google.

I do everything myself, which works out much cheaper and is more personal, but often means things don't get done as quick as they possibly should do.

I really do like to design all my graphics myself. But then again I did try my hand at graphic design before I started web design and as I am still somewhat of a beginner/moderate designer all of my sites are personal and somewhat small.

I think I'm too picky to let anyone else design for me.

I usually start my site with nothing in mind, and just play with designing until I create something I like, then I build on it from there. I'm huge on the little details in design, and people DO notice, and it makes the visual experience that much more better for that little bit of extra work.

I realize that I am Not a Jack of all Trades  --  And graphic design is not one of my strong points. I choose to just outsource this work to a graphic design pro so that I can concentrate on other areas I'm better at like content writing and marketing.  If I tried to do everything my head would Explode!!! There's only so much time in a day - and it really comes to a point where you have to know when it's best to handle a task yourself or outsource the work.
