I've set up a new ftp account with a username and password. I've also created and specified a directory that this new user can use.
But, everytime I try to ftp in as that user, the authentication fails. I've tried this with IE and CuteFTP (cuteftp was telling me the
authentication failed)

What am I missing? I've also opened the directory's permissions granted all permissions to all.

Make sure you are correctly entering the information into the ftp client.

If that isn't the case, try deleting the ftp account then remaking it.

I'll keep banging on it. I've gotten it to work with CuteFTP.

But I'm curious...

You folks set me up with a "claymohr" account. I can ftp into my account via IE with an ftp://claymohr@claymohr.com URL.
But, any other ftp accounts that I create all get an ftp account of someone@claymohr.com instead of just "someone".

Lastly, when I do use IE, when I get a login prompt - even if I use the someone@claymohr.com and their password - the
ftp session just hangs. I've gone through CPanel and CPanel tells me that "this account can access this dir with this password"
so it looks like everything is set up. I'm just wondering if I'm expecting too much to be able to use IE. I've got a user that
will upload to my claymohr.com directory and they don't know the difference between FTP and PeePee.

Use an ftp program or a site like www.net2ftp.com because IE doesn't like the cPanel given FTP usernames unless they are the root account (the one the same as your username)

Thanks.

I figured it was something like that since other ftp programs worked just fine.

If you watch the url it will change the @ sign in the username to the HTML special char for it so in reality it's sending
"someone@claymohr.com"
instead of "someone@claymohr.com
