http://www.sixapart.com/movabletype/news/2005/07/intermittent_500_server_.html

For users who have movable type installed, there have been a LOT of 500 server errors. That particular post mentions what the problem is and a solution to it (updating cpanel by my host [you], or doing it manually). I'm just wondering if this is something that you will be doing, or if it's something that I should be looking into fixing on my own.

OK, i thought everything was solved, but apparently it isn't Sad

More to the point, the version of DBD::MySQL for my cpanel is 3.0000 - which is a bad version, especially if you are using Movable Type (which I am). The problem with 3.0000 (it was causing a lot of internal 500 errors when running mySQL databases) was solved with a patch upgrade (to DBD::MySQL version 3.0001) of cpanel shortly after the bad version went live.

I don't know what your upgrade schedule for Cpanel is or what is involved in upgrading it, but is there any way to at least upgrade to DBD::MySQL 3.0001? The 500 errors are annoying.

Just to show you:

In the shell access, when I check the version, this is what comes up - I just checked the version a couple minutes ago:

> perl -MDBD::mysql -e 'print "$DBD::mysql::VERSION\n"'
3.0000

Cpanel is currently upgraded to the latest stable version which only supports 3.0000 ... it is automatically set to updgrade as soon as the next stable version comes out (which should support 3.0001).

I think that can happen as early as tomorrow. Please let me know if its not fixed by friday.

In case you needed it sooner, I just manually upgraded it to 3.0002 for you.
