Hi folks im thinking about moving from free to paid as Ive really had it with with inserted text messages angry as it really ruins my page layout. I can take pop under adverts but the forced change to page layout was the last straw.

1. I assume that I can no longer use my current address http://julianli.t35.com right? or will it still be there when I move to PAID?

2. What solutions do you have for my existing visitors that have bookmarked certain pages of mine (for example, friends who have been emailed the address http://julianli.t35.com/bali.html ). Am I to understand that this would be lost if i move to PAID? if so this is a real barrier for me.

3. if say I buy julianli.com.sg will my new address be http://www.julianli.com.sg or http://julianli.com.sg ??

4. what happens is say I suddenly die or 5 years down the line cannot afford to pay for PAID service, will you transfer my paid site back to http://julianli.t35.com.

5. say if one of my regualer viewers goes to http://julianli.t35.com can you forward them to my new site WITHOUT hitting them with a popup advert?

6. Actually this is the most important question... Can i not just pay you guys 50 bucks a year just to not put popups and insert annoying text messages on my existing free pages (this is ideally what i want as its the least disruption)

1. You can have both accounts.

2. You can setup forwards on those pages to the new url.

3. It will work with www's and without.

4. You can always go back to the free hosting account, but you would need to move over the files yourself.

5 & 6. The ads on the member pages are server wide and can't be changed for 1 specific account. Unfortunatly the "annoying pop-ups and text messages" are needed to pay for the hosting services... If you need ad free services, our paid hosting service is best for you. It has hundreads more features then free hosting, including one-click script installs, unlimited email accounts, mysql, etc... Its also only $4/month when paid yearly. Also, with a domain name, you won't have to deal with the exisiting visitor bookmark problems again.. because in the future, if you want to move hosts, you keep your domain and the transition is invisible to the visitors.

Thanks Amelan, Ive now bought the doman name www.Julian.Li from www.switch.ch, Ive given them the dns ns1.t35.net and ns2.t35.net.

Can I ask that you point this domain to julianli.t35.com while I apply for hosting?

Julian, you would have to transfer the files yourself.. but its as easy as downloading and re-uploading. In most cases, members have their files on their computer, so its just uploading at that point.

With paid hosting, you will get awstats which will give you detailed statistical information (including countries).

On a side note, did you purchase the domain yet? I am not sure if you realized, but we only do web hosting and are not a domain name registrar (as it explains in the email and on the site).

Hi Amelan, yes Ive bought my domain, I did it 5 minutes before signing up with your company,  I mentioned (3 posts up) that I used the Swiss based company www.switch.ch to register the domain www.Julian.Li.

Ive also given them the dns address ns1.t35.net and ns2.t35.net.

Im a totally new in terms of proceedure of setting up domain names, but I think ive done it right, are we good to go?

Can you tell me what is the name of the new ftp server I load my localcopy files of my website to? can I use the same username and password?

I need to get this done fast, as Im about to publicly unveil a new photo portfolio in the next day and do not wish to use  the free site to host it.

Thanks for all your help btw.

Julian

Its taking a little longer because our credit card process is having problems accepting your payment... Your credit card address and the ip from which you ordered the account were both different countries. In addition, a few other things aren't matching up. At this point its in their hands and I can't hurry the process...

Hi Amelan, thats because I applied though my singapore office computer which is linked by internal network to cincinati in USA (working in a multinational with a strange internal network does that)

Im posting this from my home singapore ISP account in singapore right now, as you can track the IP from this message you will be able to confirm from it that I am in singapore.

Please activate the account, I really cannot wait. And let me know the ftp server address to which i can load my photos too.

And now Im in the office network less than 1 hour later (this should be a USA IP), please check and verify IPs for my last 2 posts, they are in singapore and USA, this is physically impossible to travel between these countries so fast, Im in singapore, as is the Credit card I used to pay for the hosting yesterday so there should be no problem accepting my payment.

IP country checks is not a good way to determine validity of a credit card, please start my personal hosting account. I really need this up today.

It may or may not be a good way to determine validity, but its enough to raise red flags and hold things up. This is done by your bank as a matter to protect you, and we can't do anything until they finally authorize the charge. As of now, I am being told that they will have it done tomorrow morning, so your account should be up by 11am-12am EST.

Ftp address would be your domain.

You will get an email with all the information. Whether we get the payment cleared or not I will make sure you are setup by noon EST tomorrow (within 10 hours). Thank you for your patience.
