Nice tips.  Smiley  Another tip that I have heard is to strip the site name from all pages except the index page.
2  General / General and Business Discussion / Re: What software do you use to build up your website? on: February 25, 2008, 09:11:50 PM
I use MyBB and Wordpress on my site.  I also use Windows Live Writer to write blog posts.

4  General / General and Business Discussion / Re: Anyone returned to XP? on: February 25, 2008, 09:03:37 PM
Well, I have Vista and XP on my laptop, and moved back to XP on my laptop, but only because it's horrendous specs, 700MHz P3 and 256MB of RAM, way too little for Vista.  On my desktop, Vista FTW.  Works with all my hardware and software, and has a lot of new features, as well is a lot more secure.
5  General / General and Business Discussion / Re: Linux, Mac or Windows as OS for the server? on: February 25, 2008, 09:01:20 PM
Hmm, Well, from what I've heard, Windows Server 2008 is pretty good, so I would vote Windows Server.

For desktop, Windows Vista would be the best IMO.  I got Vista on my desktop and XP MCE on my 7 year old laptop.

Hey all,

I'm the owner of the largest forum about Windows 7 out there, url http://www.windows7forums.com  So, Windows 7 is the next version of Windows, due out between 2009 and 2011.  It's suppose to have a brand new UI, among other things.
7  Revenue & Traffic / Ad Revenue / Re: Making Money with Text Links on: February 25, 2008, 08:55:44 PM
I've used Text Link Ads, and I find them to be pretty good.  I had a PR4 site that was earning around $70 a month (I've sold that site though).  My current site has an Alexa of 670,000 but no Page Rank, so they haven't accepted it yet sadly.
8  Revenue & Traffic / Ad Revenue / Any OpenX users on: February 25, 2008, 08:51:24 PM
Hey all,

I was wondering, does anyone here use OpenX for ads?  For those that don't know, OpenX is an ad system that allows you to have your own ads, track clicks and impressions, and a whole lot more.  www.openx.org
9  Web Design & Developement / Web Design / HTML / Re: How to hide index.html files with slashes? on: February 25, 2008, 08:47:40 PM
Well, I'm guessing that you mean when you go to www.mysite.com/ it redirects to www.mysite.com/somepage.htm

For that, you would need to add
Code:
Redirect http://yoursite.com/ http://yoursite.com/newpage.htm
into your .htaccess file
10  General / Web Hosting Forum / Re: How do I view my site statistics on: February 25, 2008, 08:39:44 PM
I would recommend reinvigorate.net  As they seem even better than Google Analytics.  Some web hosts also have a basic stats tool called awstats.  You should  be able to access it via yousite.com/awstats or in your hosting control pane.
