1  General / General and Business Discussion / Re: What software do you use to build up your website? on: June 03, 2008, 08:13:18 PM
I've used Dreamweaver, Flash, Nvu, Frontpage, Kompozer, and a few other applications. I mostly used Notepad+ for writing in programming languages like PHP.

huh It looks like the domain name was purchased. All I saw on it was a bunch of advertisements.

That is sheer brilliance. Anagrams are a great source of entertainment. I'm sure that people will discover several more of these in celebrities and politicians as time goes on.

I hate that after September 11th, everyone is so quick to pull the "Terrorist" card. If there is sufficient evidence that the student was researching the material for an academic paper, then he should not have been punished.

If you feel like the de-activation wasn't your fault or that Google made a mistake, you can contact them with their invalid clicks appeal form. (http://www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/request.py?contact=invalid_clicks_appeal)

Good luck.

It definitely seems like you have an interesting idea going for your website. What download speeds can I expect to get from it?

I clicked on the link from notlong.com, and it said that the URL has been disabled. Do you happen to have an alternate URL that I can access the website with?
8  General / Web Hosting Forum / Re: Is web hosting cheap? on: June 03, 2008, 07:53:50 PM
If you do not want to pay money, there are several hosting companies that will offer you free website hosting. The downside to it is that you don't usually get a domain name (yoursite.com/net/org). You may experience more site downtime, and the hosting company may place advertisements on your page. Also, the services that they offer are somewhat limited compared to paid hosts.

If you decide to go with a paid host, decent hosting is usually cheap ($15/month or so.)

You get what you pay for.
9  General / How To's & Tutorials / Re: 6 Tips to Drive Traffic to your Site on: June 03, 2008, 07:50:13 PM
I suggest promoting your website or business using sites such as Digg or StumbleUpon

Digg (http://digg.com): Digg is a social news site, where anyone can upload news or interesting things found on the internet. The posts are then voted up (Dugg) or voted down (buried). High ranking posts get more exposure, which can mean massive traffic to your site.

StumbleUpon (http://stumbleupon.com): StumbleUpon is a toolbar for IE and Firefox web browsers that lets users discover websites based on their interests. A user clicks the "Stumble" button, and is taken to a random website that matches interests that they specify. The user can then give the site a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down. The more thumbs-up ratings a site has, the more it is seen by other Stumblers.

I hope that these tips help you out!
