1  Web Design & Developement / Graphic Design / Flash? on: January 17, 2008, 08:11:25 AM

For me, i am a huge fan of flash design and sites that have a flashed base. But has anyone else found that many users go away when you only have a flash version of your site? For me, i have it setup to inform the user if they do not have the correct version of flash but many do not install the plugins. Has anyone else found this a problem? How do you go about it? Have a html version?

Firefox is good but for me i shall stick with IE. For me, I can still see that FF has some problem and with some sites it does not show the site in the correct format.

5  Revenue & Traffic / Search Engine Optimization / The web directory? on: January 17, 2008, 07:54:36 AM
Hey,

Well, its a must for every website owner. Having a directory. Its true the market has now become saturated with these sites but they are still valuable. How do people see web directories? Do you think the SE count the links with some value or is it now, they are discounting the links thus affectin gout PR
6  General / General and Business Discussion / Re: Save the forums! on: January 17, 2008, 07:50:40 AM
I am not sure if forums are declining, I think its an issue of more people grouping around certain forums so it makes it harder for new forums to jump into the market.

Its the hardest part of any forum, setting it up and getting a core posting base. But for me, I see forums becoming more central, but as we see now sites such as MySpace and other social networking site have now also started to use forums to retain members, so these member do not need to go any where else.
7  Revenue & Traffic / Ad Revenue / Parking of domain names on: January 17, 2008, 07:46:32 AM
Well, we all have done it, parking of our domain names to make some extra money out of them but has anyone else found that parking of domain names sometimes not even worth the hassle?

Parking now has lost its touch, maybe its because of the provider I am with, who parks with who?
8  General / Web Hosting Forum / Re: Is web hosting cheap? on: January 17, 2008, 07:44:44 AM
Web hosting has always been a cheap area. All you need is about $15 to setout a web site. The site domain name is more expensive than the hosting itself.

You can host for free, as there are some providers but they generally want their ads shown and can make your site look rather poor. But its boils down to what sort of site you want, as you are tennis fan, maybe a forum, a small web host would go a long way. You just need the domain name and the hosting
9  General / Web Hosting Forum / Re: Dedicated Servers on: January 17, 2008, 07:42:26 AM
Hello,

Well for me, as you have asked, the best for dedicated hosting is liquid web:-
http://www.liquidweb.com/

the servers they offer are very reliable and also the technical support is very good as well. But then its all a matter of what you want, you have got to pay for quality
10  Revenue & Traffic / Ad Revenue / Is the way we make money changing? on: January 17, 2008, 07:38:00 AM
Hey guys,

Well, was talking to one of my friends today about Ad space income from services such as clicksor and adsense. We were talking and found that over the past year the way we have made money has changed, rates that adsense, clicksor for example are reducing and you are required to do more.

I found that selling your AD space by yourself means you make more money but you have got to do a lot more work. Has anyone else seen their income decrease and they have to then resort to making money by selling their own AD space?
