Those are great lol....You've won but you have to sign up for a dozen or so pay offers first. Hasn't the net just gotten so cool since more and more people discovered it. Almost like a 24hr infomercial of sorts. Wasn't that way in the late eighties when I first got online. The upside is it's pretty inexpensive to be online now and it's the ads we complain about that we have to thank for that, at least in part. Those and a larger user base.

Alternatively, you can get a php script that searches google with your name always showing in the address bar since it is on your server......I got it off of hotscripts.com

If you mean what scripts then flatfile is the way to go. Go to http://hotscripts.com and do a search on what you are looking for. For forums I suggest Navboard or PBLAng. NavBoard is "lighter". As for a CMS Shadowed portal is good and includes forums.

We possibly could help if you gave us a little more information.
What is the name of the script you are trying to run?
Does it require mysgl or any other feature that isn't available on free service?
Did you correctly chmod the files through ftp?

I went to the site and I got the sub blue index page. The only time I've ever seen that index page is inside a template directory for phpbb. (IE: subSilver or subBlack) It looks like you have uploaded a the contents of a template folder to your home directory. And, if you are trying to use phpBB..it won't work with the free service unless you get a remote database. Give us additional info and perhaps someone can help smiley

This is actually made by a company called Giant that sold the software to Microsoft but magically it's still running on the Giant backend. So it's not nessacarily a way for Microsoft to spy on you... other then the fact that they check to see if you copy of Windoz is leagal before your allowed to download it from them.

It was weird, I downloaded it but was given the option to skip verification....which I did. It works pretty well. Better than I expected since it's being marketed by Microsoft

I suggest shadowed flatfile portal. I found it on hotscripts.com. Works pretty well, fast and has forums as well as most of the features you need in a CMS

9  General / General and Business Discussion / Re: Backweb Agent on: March 04, 2005, 11:04:02 PM
Taken from another site:

The BackWeb agent is the engine that controls the news and information updates for your subscribed channels (Active Desktop).
If you dont use it, or dont know how this program got onto your computer you can delete it as follows:
Go to the Start menu and select Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs. Select Backweb and click "Remove".
If backwebagent is not shown in the list of add/remove programs you can try this to prevent it from startup:
Go to Start --> Run --> type "msconfig" in the box"
Select the tab "Start-up" and uncheck the mark at the program Backweb.
Restart your computer.
Although the program is still on the computer when you do this, at least it doesnt start when you boot your pc.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I found it on a google search in less than 30 seconds
10  General / General and Business Discussion / Free blue phpBB theme on: March 03, 2005, 04:04:38 AM
I made this for someone who decided they wanted another color scheme so I'm just giving this to anyone who wants it. Now I'm working on the new one and just discarded this one since I have no use for it. It will install on phpBB 2.11-2.13 Anyways, Grab it if ya want smiley

I hadn't noticed the pop under come up lol. Then I found myself falling for a gimic and wanted the product shocked  It was cool, didn't interfere with the site at all...just frightened me for a moment

13  T35 Hosting Support / Paid Hosting General Support / Alex: Is this allowed?? on: February 23, 2005, 01:15:15 PM
To name a few:
People using the Database to host hack, warez, illegal MP3 sites or forums, using it to gain access into other users accounts. Hosting forums for hacking Satellite TV comes to mind and for illegal pornography. Lets say I gave someone a DB for a portal...a portal is basically a predefined site that a user adds content to. If someone wanted to use the portal to host and distribute illegal software or music then I could be held accountable for that site although I am only providing the database. That's why I'm thinking of doing forum hosting instead. It's much easier to clean up and monitor.
14  General / General and Business Discussion / What are your pet peeves in the forums on: February 21, 2005, 06:13:06 PM
Just wondering what gets your goat on here lol.

My personal favorite is:
People not reading the info for free hosting before asking about their mysql
 angry

I read too many of these...I'm not trying to be rude or mean spirited. I just get tired of seeing the same question over and over and over and over and over.....etc. I just wonder who actually reads the info when signing up for hosting.

Ok, I'm done venting Smiley
15  T35 Hosting Support / Free Hosting General Support / Oekaki on T35? on: February 21, 2005, 06:00:00 PM

An oekaki is an online drawing board.

Requirements

The following is reqiured:

UNIX or Windows NT server
PHP version 4.1 or higher
CHMOD support (UNIX) or read/write/execute permissions (Windows NT)
mySQL account

does t35 support all these needs? if not do you know what does?

T35 doesn't support mysql on the free service. You would have to get paid service for that. You can however get a free mysql db from hotsql.com.
