1  General / General and Business Discussion / Re: How Many websites do you Own/Operate? on: August 27, 2008, 02:35:43 AM
Some of you guys have a lot on your plate! You make me feel even more amateur than I really am, LOL.  grin Anyway, I currently have 3 websites, which I often find is more than I have time for. Regular updates are important to keep a website alive, and I find that I can only concentrate on one at a time.
2  General / General and Business Discussion / Re: How do I promote a link? on: August 27, 2008, 02:32:45 AM
I have promoted affiliate links in my blog, that brought decent results. I have also used free classifieds, that's a waste of time... Forums are not a good option either, because posting affiliate links may affect your credibility ("Oh, you're here to sell stuff!") and besides some forums prohibit that.
3  Web Design & Developement / Web Design / HTML / Re: web designing Guide on: August 27, 2008, 02:27:46 AM
That's very impressive Webeek! Smiley I am not sure I could do that - yet. I am learning html, it's been a slow process since I am doing it by myself, using online tutorials, tips, and such. Is this tutorial you have mentioned newbie-oriented or do you have to know some coding already?
4  General / General and Business Discussion / Backlinks? on: August 27, 2008, 02:22:58 AM
What do you do to obtain quality backlinks to your sites? I personally prefer doing it the hard way - putting up good articles, and promoting them rather than leaving comments on other people's sites with a link to mine and hoping they won't delete it. Smiley
5  General / Introductions / Hello fellow webmasters :) on: August 27, 2008, 02:15:00 AM
Hello fellow webmasters! I am new here, looking around and getting to know this place. I like the wealth of info I see here! I am an amateur webmaster eager to learn, so I'm sure I will find all kinds of useful tips.
6  General / Web Hosting Forum / Re: GoDaddy - Site Builder on: August 27, 2008, 02:09:59 AM
The sitebuilder is great if you have no idea about html or php, but with simply knowledge in those you can do better without it Wink

That's me - I know very little about coding, so for now I rely on Site Builders. Is GoDaddy a free hosting service? I believe I had checked them out when I was just starting to build my sites but I chose not to go with them. I have been using Tripod, and they are fast enough.
7  General / General and Business Discussion / Re: What software do you use to build up your website? on: August 27, 2008, 01:59:58 AM
I am not an expert webmaster, more of an amateur still in the process of learning, so I don't use anything sophisticated. I have used FrontPage, and it served my needs well. I hear good things about Wordpress, would you recommend to try it?
8  General / General and Business Discussion / Re: Great site for at home work on: August 27, 2008, 01:52:10 AM
I have been using WAHM.com for a while, it is an excellent source of information, especially when you hear of a work-at-home opportunity and wonder whether it is legit. In such cases I go to WAHM, and usually someone over there has tried it, knows about it, or knows someone who does. Scams are easy to weed out this way, and if it's not a scam, it also helps to see whether people like the job or not.
9  General / General and Business Discussion / Re: Do You Promote Your Website Offline?... on: August 27, 2008, 01:48:54 AM
I do not promote my sites offline. The #1 reason is that most of them are hosted through a free service, so the links are not something short and catchy that customers would easily remember. Someday I will expand and buy proper domain names, but for now, what I do is not big enough to invest extra $$.
10  General / General and Business Discussion / Re: Another fun email from Google Adsense on: August 27, 2008, 01:45:42 AM
I had received a warning email from Google once (I guess I was lucky because in many cases they send no warnings, just a notification like this one that your account is banned). They thought I was using traffic exchange / autosurf programs. I wrote back and told them that I do not use autosurf, I did try traffic exchange in the past but no longer use it, either. Somehow, they'd let me keep my account active.

In your case, I think you should at least try to find out what exactly they have found wrong with your site and then explain what needs to be explained.
