Dedicated hosting poses the problem as hackers can get into easily on knowing IP n few other information unless u have some security softwares installed. Also many webhosts are resellers of layeredtech who ahve good number of servers.

Not proud as it is not best in my blog but many times my posts from diff. blogs were on number 1 in google but nothing to proud of.

My current one http://bloggingtruths.com ranks in 2nd page of gogole for blogging tips keyword.

1st get some links pointing to tell google your site has come & it should index.
Then do seo and have content.
get a good alexa rank using tricks. bellow 1million
then build links by directory submission..forum signatures


You then do well in search engines...

1st links to your sites using keywords targeted as anchor text would boost your serps & rest part is meta tag n titles full of keywords...then content should have good density of keywords...but them appearing once would do.

Adsense bans many account but is most trusted n used because it pays best out of all there. Others like adbrite really suck. You can make $100/month easily from site with about 2000 impressions if your ads are well blended.

Adsense also pays on cpm basis tough is very less.

i know about pop unders but never use it even i have high page views sites but what are the layer ads....does it float in the page even user scrolls to avoid it. Please enlighten.

Well Google does not punish all sites selling text links but the one selling links directly in their  site by writing get featured here or using textlinkads.com are heavily penalized from search engine. Also sponsored blogpost broker payperpost's users face same fate.
