Hello Friends
I purchased a domain indyhost.org last year 11june08 and used it as a domain & hosting reseller. I also made some advertising for the site. But due to lack of time, I couldn't take care of it. Finally, the domain got expired. I was so busy that I couldn't check my my emails for the renewal reminders.
Currently I asked my registrar to renew it and they denied and told me that as the domain was not renewed in a timely fashion, the domain has now entered a 30 day 'Redemption Period'. During this period the registered owner may renew the domain by paying a redemption fee of $90.19.
Though I recently regestered a new domain indyhost.info for the domain and hosting reseller site and currently it's working.
But I still need your suggestions. Is it worth to pay $90.19 for the domain?
Sorry! I forgot to tell that indyhost.org is a 5 year old domain.

Domain: indyhost.org
Keywords (User-Defined) indy host
http://EstiBot.com
Valuation : USD 70
Estibot gives it a $70 value, so it might be worthwhile to renew. Did the domain have a PR?

This new redemption system is insane. It allows registrars to hold your domain hostage for up to a year and ruin your valuable business brands.
Essentially they load the site up with tacky advertising and limit the creativity and value of the web as a whole. Why can't we just make the domain available when it expires and go from there?

If you really have lots of backlinks as well as PR upwards of 4 then you should definitely redeem it. But if you don't expect to dedicate time for the domain then you should better let it go. You can also try to sell the domain name for more money if you no longer need it.

If the domain has been live for 5 years $90 isn't a big price to pay for not being more careful. I would certainly renew the domain IF you intend to make use of it, if you are still too busy and wont get round to using it, then that answers the question for you, its a waste of money.
