With cpanel offering its own one-click-install scripts, has fantastico become obsolete?

Didn't even know this exists Cheesy ( cpanel install of scripts I mean ) ? Fantastico was on the other side always obsolete for me and my way of doing things...

Yeah, I always code my web pages right down in the text and html, however, I saw Fantastico, and I didn't really like it compared to others.

I think it depends a lot on the user. I did test it out, when I brought some host space, but soon found out that it wasn't very good on the software terms as it had old software for SMF, the forum software I use. So, I decided to manually install it myself on the public_html. I think all round it's easier to manually install everything this way. So, from that perspective I would say I don't use it anymore, as I manually upload everything now.
